I CORINTHIANS 7:23 "Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men."
Paul's words, "You are not your own..." have an odd ring to us today. We are so used to thinking of ourselves as owning this or that, that we do not understand that, living in a world made by God, no man really owns anything. We do not understand that we do not even own ourselves.
Whatever you may think of, the ownership of it, in its origin, can be traced back to God. For example, each of us is bought by our mother's travail before our birth. Before that, sacrifices were made for us. We do not enter the world on our own.
Then, as we grow, we are being bought by our parents' love and sacrifice. That is true of all human relationships where there is any real Jove. We are bought by all who love us, bought very often by the untold price of their pain and agony. And we are, as we give Jove for love, less and less our own.
God's Word says that we have all been bought at a price by Jesus Christ, a price that was expressly paid that it might never have to be paid again. We should never give that which is holy -ourselves - to the swine of indifference and selfishness.
You are not your own - you are Christ's. Don't forget that. Decide what that must mean for your thinking, feeling, living and for your service for God. What that is going to mean for each of us we alone can decide - we with God in the secret places of our hearts.
