A NEW DAY DAWNS

This Day.....

"This day is the scripture fulfilled in your ears,"Jesus said to His hearers in the synagogue at Nazareth following His reading of the first portion of Isaiah 62 (Luke 4:21). It was a great day. The Lord began to preach good tidings to the poor, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty the bruised and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

This day you can change and be changed.

This Jesus said to Zacchaeus, "This day is salvation come to this house, forasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham." (Luke 19:9). Zacchaeus was more than a fleshly descendant of Abraham. He was a devout believer in God.

This day salvation can come to you!

Jesus said to Peter, "I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt deny that thou knowest me" after Peter had boasted that he would go with the Lord into prison and to his death (Luke 22:34). This day is new. It has never been yours before and it will never be yours again. It can be the pivot of your life.

In Jesus' model prayer He taught His disciples to pray. "Give us this day our daily bread" (Matthew 6:11). We need daily bread to sustain our physical bodies. We also need the bread of life to give daily spiritual nourishment.

This day is yours. It gives you the same amount of time as it does to presidents, kings and queens. This day can be a new starting point in your life. This day, lived well, fulfills the past and gives hope for the future.

"This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24).
